FIND OUT WHY
EVERYONE CHOOSES CIMS
Blood Transfusion Service is one of the most essential departments in the healthcare delivery system.
Since there is no substitute for blood products, blood transfusion becomes the most important means of providing blood to patients. Blood Transfusion is the only means to infuse blood into our body.
Blood is mainly composed of Red Blood Cells, Plasma, White Blood Cells and Platelets. All the components have their specific role in our body system. For example: plasma contains coagulation factors like Fibrinogen, Factor VIII, Factor IX, etc. which help in proper blood clotting in patients of coagulation factor deficiency, e.g. Haemophilia. Red Blood Cells carry oxygen to every corner of body and platelets help in blood coagulation. An integrated action plan and continuous quality improvement are required for both donors and patients safety and elimination of the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections.
CIMS Hospital houses one the best Transfusion Medicine Departments in the country. We mostly collect blood from voluntary donors and perform transfusion-transmitted infection investigation and blood grouping of collected blood units. We have the latest technologies for components preparation, components storage and distribution by using complete sterile techniques. Before issuing blood and blood components to patients, we perform compatibility testing between donor’s and patient’s blood samples by column agglutination technology. The CIMS Transfusion Medicine Department works 24×7 for timely supply of blood to patients and committed for the safety of donors and patients through well -maintained standard operating procedures through continuous quality improvements, well-qualified blood bank staff and usage of the latest technology.
